Reform's candidate Robert Kenyon said abortion was a "cowardly act of murder" and implied that people falsely claimed to have been raped

He said: “Don’t dole out the ‘what if someone is raped by their brother’ arguement... don’t want babies? Use contreception! [sic]”

Drowning Doesn’t Look Like Drowning
Drowning is not the violent, splashing call for help that most people expect.

Populism is a reaction to the future already feeling killed
Hadn’t read this phrase before. “Populism killing the future” exactly sums up why I find it so depressing that we have here in the UK a government pretending that the inflationary consequences of Trump’s war are the fault of the supermarkets, and opposition parties pretending it is the government.
The idea that Americans pay more taxes than Europeans is catastrophically false, verging on delusional.

This is what people on this site mean when we talk about populism killing the future. People just believe shit which is not remotely true, because it makes them feel better?

The people who came up with this need “all-day help”
I feel that one way of expressing the combined effect of growing up, becoming socialized, getting an education, and having a personality is: not needing “all-day help… spoken into your ear privately” by Google
The glasses “are designed to give you all-day help with Gemini that's spoken into your ear privately”

Fraud of deputies
Completely unacceptable from the Board of Deputies.

This nakedly partisan hypocrisy does not represent me or many other British Jews.

This is pretty shocking. We’ve just become a society assuming the worst of everyone
Disabled people in the U.K. report rising abuse from the public over Blue Badges as anti-benefit rhetoric grows. Many told The Guardian they have been verbally harassed, with some even physically assaulted.

This a fascinating article that runs totally counter to my layman’s understanding that the romanticisation of highwaymen came after they had stopped being a serious threat
Dick Turpin was executed #OnThisDay in 1739.

How did England fall out of love with the highwayman?

The Jewish left wrote the book more than a century ago on how to organize against tyranny, forming the Bund to fight back. @mollycrabapple.bsky.social's book on that history and how it resonates with the present comes out tomorrow. Crabapple talks here with Debbie Nathan about the Bund's legacy.
The original anti-Zionists have been all but forgotten. Molly Crabapple wants to change that.
in 'Here Where We Live Is Our Country,' the artist and journalist offers a family memoir and a history of the Jewish Bund.
