I wish we had better data on this. You can see the large construction sites around town but the missing middle construction is easy to miss.

Some pedestrian infrastructure actually inconveniences walkers in order to make it more convenient for drivers (beg buttons and pedestrian overpasses). A lot of people don’t realize this.

I’m old enough to remember when “electrify everything” was one of our key strategies for addressing climate change.

I think it’s easier to criticize a blatantly corrupt intervention in the rules of the game than the mistreatment of Iran due to geopolitics. Especially when none of the big football powers want to be seen by the US as siding with Iran.

That was a quarterfinal match against Germany! It was a clear handball! If they had VAR back then, the US could have advanced to the semifinals! I am also still upset about that.

I don’t have high expectations for the knockout rounds but this is the most fun group stage of my life! If they win their first knockout match and then crash out, this will have been an amazing World Cup.
