A really interesting conversation. In Appalachia, much of the historically developable land is in river valleys and floodplains, which poses a lot of hard questions that were exposed by events like Hurricane Helene.
The function of the insurance industry should be to keep us protected. But, as climate change strains insurer's operating models, profit is prioritised over protection.
