I believe people should be treated with kindness and respect. Economically and politically I lean quite far to the left. I am also decidedly queer.

Damn, this woman really thinks so highly of herself that she believes we cannot possibly live without the Wizard Story. Nobody NEEDS this.
I for one won’t be watching and hope that JK is in for a rude awakening. It’s also pretty crazy to be this overly confident about rehashing your already adapted books with lesser known actors.

The final stretch before the midterms is here, and Democrats' momentum is only building. The generic ballot is looking better than ever. The map keeps expanding into places nobody expected. And Trump's convention was a dud, which you know I love. A lot to feel good about heading into November.

This kind of BS will continue until we start treating "oops the chatbot did it" comparably to "I fabricated evidence" because that's what this is.

Right now, both "AI" companies and end users are dodging accountability for "AI"-enabled harms. Here's an idea: hold them responsible.
“A defense lawyer appealing his client's murder conviction submitted a brief containing made-up ‌police testimony and witnesses fabricated by OpenAI's ChatGPT…”
Lawyer cites fake witnesses in murder case and blames ChatGPT
New Mexico state supreme-court justices expressed incredulity at the lawyer's comment that he was not fully aware of how AI can make mistakes.

Find local politicians or political parties you like and seek out volunteer positions.

I have done data entry, map cutting, lots of things that aren't stressful or public facing.

There is work to be done!
I know there are a lot of people who want to make the world better but don’t know where to start so just…don’t.

I also know every group I work with that is making the world better is kept afloat by exhausted people who desperately need help.

If you’re in group A, please find an org to help group B

Flock intentionally spied on and recorded children and used the videos in sales pitches

Why the fuck you would ever compromise with a company that nonconsensually films children??

The United States' ridiculous demand that Canada remove French to secure a trade deal—a shoddy attempt at weakening our sovereignty/making an economic 51st state—is having the absolutely hilarious effect of uniting Quebec and the rest of Canada.

Y'all have no idea how hilarious and improbable it is

Weird how any time a number is offered by conservatives it matches the number of "corrective surgeries"

It's possible to scan books without "cutting" them, which literally means ripping off the spine. But why are AI companies doing this? For one, it's cheaper and faster. Also, in a case against Anthropic, a judge ruled it was NOT a copyright violation because the original had been destroyed.

We placed a tracking device in a shipment of rare books to see which AI company was buying it, and found an Amazon facility where Amazon scans and destroys books.
