I think I first became aware of Stephanie Cole through repeats of Waiting for God. Then I noticed and admired her in loads of comedies. And, of course, as a massive Cabin Pressure fan, I loved her performance as Carolyn.

Thanks for all the laughs.

So sorry to hear this. Bonnie Greer had a quiet authority that cut through noise and blister and it always seemed like she thought before she spoke.

Goodness, that scrapyard at Belfast Harbour is very unlucky, isn't it? That's three huge fires in less than five years.

New from me on my Political Sandbox Substack:

We Shape Our Buildings

Parliament can move out for 25 years and spend £15.6bn, or stay put for 60 and spend nearly £40bn. It will stay put, and the reason is neither money nor heritage.

Just been told to "be less of an arse" to myself.

Honestly, that's good advice.

According to the bible, heaven isn't open plan. This, along with my experience of working in an open plan office, leads me to believe that they are the work of the devil.

I'm only half joking.

Attention fans of early 2000s sitcoms: My Hero is on iPlayer. So that's me sorted for entertainment for a while.

Ironically, my (already poor) handwriting has deteriorated enormously thanks to having a job where I have to create documents which may be referred to many years from now, maybe even by historians. I'm so desperate to get everything down, I just kind of scrawl.
If I were a person in the past writing a document that may be looked at by historians one day I would simply have legible handwriting

MOT this morning. Car has been prepared. Everything was good to go. And then, just as I was leaving the house, the tyre pressure warning light came on. So we'll see what happens.

Calculated my insulin dose for breakfast, injected, and left the house. Unfortunately, I left my breakfast behind. Fortunately, I had something else with the same amount of carbohydrate. Unfortunately, that something else is 2 packets of crisps. 😬

Listening to #bbcwato about people having to retake their driving tests because they want to drive a manual but passed in an auto.

My clutch control is good (it's maybe my only driving skill that is). I thought I'd always prefer a manual. But now I drive an EV and it's just really pleasant.

Apparently the female version of me is a trope in manga.

For me, it has never resulted in finding love. It just results in crumbs.

Dermot Murnaghan wrote the introduction for a commemorative booklet about Sullivan Upper around 2001. I started in 2002, so I read it.

I could never see him without picturing a 12-year old crawling past the principal's house because he didn't want to be seen without his school cap.

This is the face of a girl who was very disappointed when I opened the car boot and then told her not to get in because she wasn't going anywhere.

She seems to have got over her disappointment and she'll get to go in the car to be reunited with her family tomorrow.

Follow-up report: the actual people *in* the office were great. Really friendly, helpful, efficient, and passports arrived in lots of time. It feels almost gauche using social media to say that you had a GOOD customer experience, but we are where we are.
So the HM Passport Office in London is closed to the entire population tomorrow, except it's staying open for me, except they can only help me at 10am but not at 10.20 because presumably the weather is really going take a turn at about quarter past. Thanks guys, great country as ever!
