We crossed the #GreatStBernard Pass today (by car!). On top stands a hospice, at 2,469 m (8,100 ft). It was founded around 1050 to help travelers on their difficult journey and protect them from brigands roaming the area. The famous St Bernard dogs came much later, probably in the 17th century.

A few days ago we stayed at a little campground on Lake Leman in Vevey. It doesn’t have many free places as most of them are occupied by vans permanently parked there and inhabited by hippies. It’s a lovely place with a breathtaking view and a very Un-Swiss feeling to it.

Visited Le Laboureur in Digoin today. The company was founded in the 1950s by an Italian immigrant. It produces workers clothing that can be worn by everyone. It is labeled Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant today. You can visit the factory and take a tour, just walk in.

This is a cat hotel for strays. It includes a little platform for food, and each cubby has an escape hatch in the back. Every community should have one of those in every neighborhood! Seen in Villefranche-de-Rouerge, France.

#OTD ten years ago, we sailed on the Seine toward Rouen. On the way we passed the remains of the old bridge of Limay, destroyed in 1940 by the French army to slow down the Wehrmacht. The bridge had been standing since the 11th century!
