that last page was bait, go watch Betrothed to My Sister's Ex / Zutaboro Reijō wa Ane no Moto Konyakusha ni Dekiai Sareru!

its a cute, almost classic fairytale-like romance and the prince is cool and has dark skin and is voiced by Daiki Hamano!

for fun, some preferences:

-AoT > SnK (SNK was already a thing at the time)
-BNHA = MHA (i just say My Hero)
-Dun(geon)Meshi > Delicious in D (just wanted the DnD pun)
-Mud Sludge >= Dorohedoro (i just like knowing the meaning)
- > "Betrothed to My Sister's Ex" (tbf, a rough title to localize)

but also the post that kicked off this latest discourse is obviously a joke. and is definitely not about whether or not you call the latest anime by whatever name. fans and fandoms develop language in real time and unless your shorthand is trying to compete with something established then its nbd.

like it is still generally a good idea that if you like a series to support its official release when possible, but when one company has worked very hard to dominate the western market for anime it can be hard to be excited to continue supporting their business practices, especially with use of ai.

i have considered this before

i feel like its hard to not be charmed by DIC Sailor Moon when you start watching it, but easy to be focus on all the changes and get upset with it. like ive had friends say they love an episode, we watch the VIZ version and the delivery feels flat, then we look at the DIC version and its better.

well thank you for being more helpful than the youtube recommendation system!

i came here looking for earth girls and im glad someone beat me to it

its not even like it was a happy scene for Luca and Lara like they could not have picked as better "but it was horrible. for everyone. and that includes you." moment lol

the rest of the merch is absolutely stellar though! thank you for showing!

nothing could make me trust you more than you saying this

if i remember right, interviews make it sound like Christianity was borrowed from aesthetically but otherwise wasnt as integral as someone raised in or around Christianity might expect.

yeah i mostly avoided looking into the author so closely because it feels less like the author sparked this and more like the whole audience is having a reaction, but it definitely reads like missing the forest for the trees at least. or someone who casts too wide of a net to give a focused take.

like i do get that its more of a "consensus will never be reached" type of beat, but its not even studying the greatest hits because we somehow never go further back than Utena and just hear seemingly experienced anime fans complain about the same five shows or whatever.

if youre reading this and think im right you should also watch Sparks of Tomorrow. Summer 2026 anime for me was that, Goodbye, Lara and the final arc of Digimon Beatbreak. mostly because ive had to save Kaiju Girl and Smoking Behind the Supermarket is being saved for binging with my partner.
