After scuppering Labour MP Stella Creasy’s efforts to cap donations in the Commons last week, time is running out to introduce a UK donations limit in the House of Lords, where the bill has its second reading today. The public seems on board. bylinetimes.com/2026/09/14/w...

Christopher Harborne and Ben Delo gave a record £36 million each over the weekend to Nigel Farage's party, but a new law means they may have to take it all back

Once you understand the corporate culture of AI hyperscalers is everyone cooking their brains by locking themselves in the bathroom, holding flashlights under their chins, and saying "Aaaaaaaaaay Eyeeeeeee" until they wet themselves in terror, things snap into focus:

Last I heard, this offence should carry a prison sentence of 5 years just for talking about potentially organising the blocking of a road or does that only apply to people who care about saving the planet from climate oblivion?
Note how the moral panic about blocking the roads disappears if it's the far right doing it
"Roads are all blocked. They are never going to be allowed to leave". The news reports do not yet include if any arrests were made or not in Portsmouth last night. A couple of police cars had their windows smashed.

A while ago my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the worrying weeks dragged on my dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time & inhabiting art's most iconic scenes. What he produced (& how quickly) was phenomenal...

It seems we need a reminder that the Luddites did not hate technology. The were, in fact, technology experts who objected to the dehumanization and abuse of workers by investors and factory owners through new technologies.

On Sunday, parents across the five boroughs got a night to themselves while NY's Cutest enjoyed free activities with NYC Parks staff at select recreation centers.

Free & accessible child care doesn’t just make our city more affordable — it gives parents time to rest, recharge, or enjoy a night out.
This past weekend, New York City launched its first Parents’ Night Out, a new initiative by Mayor Zohran Mamdani to give families four hours of free babysitting. It was a hit.

We don't need another inquiry into press behaviour, we've already had one.

We just need to enact its recommendations in full.

🧵 Andy Burnham is now PM. He has the power to do something no govt has managed in 13 years: finish the job on Leveson.

It's time to hold him to his word.

#C4News
There is no doubt that the right wing press is responsible for a large proportion of the lies about immigration. Implementing Leveson's recommendations in full would have helped tackle that misinformation @mrjamesob.bsky.social 🧵

Might actually be worse than it seems.
My essay on “Unhumans” was quoted in @hcrichardson.bsky.social’s newsletter today.

One thing about fascists: they tell you what they are doing. They write it down.

It’s important that we understand this, even if the mainstream press can’t/won’t acknowledge it.

But it occurred to me that this whole enterprise of making sense of AI needs to be framed in the context of the messiness of AI itself, and AI boosters' overwhelming, promiscuous and disjointed Gish Gallop.

What's happening to CBS News is what the tech oligarchs call "parallel" strategy.

Buy an existing institution, gut it, and convert it into a right-wing zombie version of itself. They are doing this to media, government, education, biotech, defense tech, etc.

Some call it the "Network State."

This however, paid collusion between the leaders of two political parties in the run up to election, if true, is a scandal of staggering propositions
