What a great day in Tuscumbia on Labor Day. Food, fun, a parade and a Bama jersey autographed by Joe Namath! Organized labor has worked so hard and for so long for the workers in Alabama, it’s time that Alabama’s government did some work for them not always against them.

In 1965, an Alabama State Trooper shot and killed Jimmie Lee Jackson during a protest in Marion, AL. He was unarmed and the protesters were peaceful. His death led to the Selma to Montgomery march for voting rights and ultimately the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. 61 years later….

With the help of the Supreme Court continuing to show their partisan colors, Alabama has officially re-joined the Old Confederacy. But make no mistake, we intend to build a better Alabama where everyone has a seat at the table.

We have a lot of momentum after last week’s primary victory. We can win again this fall folks, just like my friend Gov. Andy Beshear wins in Kentucky. Thanks Andy, for believing in what we are building in Alabama. Oh, and remember - we’ve won statewide in Alabama before!
