Literally all our lore, stories and mythology about technology is about how destructive it becomes when unregulated by humanity.
I don’t know what more I can say than the ENTIRE body of human creative expression to ppl who choose to ignore those warnings.

Democrats *cannot* support the Protection College Sports Act. It’s the most anti-labor coming out of this Congress. We cannot cap the mobility of black athletes, but not white coaches.

Eye popping. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft.
Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

So at the rate this is going the EU ought to replace NATO as an alliance of all our former allies minus us and Turkey sometime next year.

Please stop giving your money to NFL owners.
New: Macklemore says Robert Kraft — who owns Gillette Stadium, where Macklemore & Ed Sheeran were to perform later this month — called Sheeran.

Kraft rallied other owners together behind an ultimatum for Sheeran: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you won't be allowed in our venues.

Your regular reminder: If the Russians stop fighting, the war ends. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, their land will be occupied, their leaders will be killed, their history and language will be erased, their children will be kidnapped to serve Russia.

Honestly I’m OK with anyone who has my name, address, and phone number seeing and paying my city utilities bill so the requirement for a secure password seems pretty stupid.

Thank you lord Chamberlain. Maybe Hitler will be satisfied when we appease him.
Kushner on Ukraine:

“President Putin's laid out his line of what he wants to achieve. If Ukraine, you know, wanted to withdraw to that line, then obviously, you know, we have the rest of the deal set up and put together. Ukraine right now does not want to do that.”

The Houthis taking the Baba Mendez was entirely pridicatble. Oman could care less it doesn’t affect them.
It hurts Saudi Arabia big time with Hormuz also choked.
The Russians are celebrating because oil prices go up and now they are China’s only major oil supplier.
This is an epic fuck up.

Point Break is itself derived from its time and the art that came before it. Embrace that and make the next thing which is relevant now, not the last thing relevant then.
Don’t update it. Recreate something modern with the themes that are still relevant.
I’m not a culture critic but this obsession with rebooting things is a sign of deep malaise. Let’s just cultivate new things. Nobody is going to be improving on Point Break.
‘Point Break’ Series Greenlit By AMC & France’s Canal+ From Alcon
This comes after Deadline revealed in December that it was developing a series based on the iconic Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves surf heist thriller.

I’m starting to think the usual cycle with governments is they become complacent, something terrible happens they could have stopped if they hadn’t been complacent, they convince everyone it wasn’t complacency that cause the crisis, and to play catch-up they do more terrible things.
