I just had the best phone call I have had since I began interviewing people for my next book. The STS-107 crew lost their lives in a tragic accident, but one of the Principal Investigators for an STS-107 experiment just told me about the ways that the experiment has since benefited spaceflight.

On this 25th anniversary, I am considering the question of the best resources by which to understand the events of September 11, 2001. My personal choice for the best book I have read is Mitchell Zuckoff's Fall and Rise (2019). Many of the best choices at the moment are journalistic accounts, but

Glad to read this article about the Artemis II heat shield.

It turns out that Orion's much-maligned heat shield performed really well
Independent safety officials also have high praise for changes by NASA leadership.

This afternoon I had the pleasure of conducting the first interview for my next book. I have already written one book on astronaut training from Mercury to the present (published in 2017) and now have several interviews lined up for my next project.

In my opinion, this is the best scene in Home Alone 2. I saw it in the theater in November 1992 with my family. Rest in peace, Mr. Curry.

If any of you who are teachers are interested in finding historical simulation games for your students, I had good luck with this website this week. Amped Up Learning contains simulations of life aboard a ship during the age of sail and of managing a Gilded Age corporation.

The chair of my History Department is interested in songs that professors use in their teaching that help explain a historical development or exemplify the cultural milieu of a time or place. What songs come to mind for you? Mine were "Fixin' to Die Rag," "Fortunate Son," and "Whitey on the Moon."
