As I’ve said before, any serious attempt to ban conversion practices in Britain has to confront the fact that the NHS never stopped doing it. This draft bill not only fails, it explicitly gives “healthcare providers” permission to continue.
I've spent years working towards a ban on conversion practices, hoping to see a bill published. Today, I just feel so profoundly sad. As many others have noted, the draft has a carve out for "healthcare" so broad it makes a mockery of the idea this is a 'ban'. 1/2

The mere concept of whipping your MPs to prevent an inquiry is itself the sign of a complete loss of credibility and ethics in the labour party. Absolutely shameful.

I would estimate it being far higher from the footage. Just having resources in the region for this offensive costs millions every day. Each radar system destroyed is millions lost. Every interceptor used also costs millions, not to mention the missiles which are hundreds of millions each.
The U.S. war on Iran is estimated to have already cost taxpayers over $2 billion dollars.

Regardless of if Antonia Romeo is a good candidate for head of the civil service, if I were Starmer I would be looking for a candidate that wouldn't be controversial. Like, if you're being told you're a poor judge of character maybe pick a clean candidate to prove you're actually trying to improve?

Zack is the first politician I've seen clearly state the practical reason why nuclear isn't an alternative to renewables. Like, it really is that simple: we can't wait another 30 years

Regardless of your stance on nuclear fission as a power source, the issue is that these power stations take over a decade to plan, build and test. It also doesn't solve the actual limiting factor, which is transmission capacity.

Deeply disappointing to see governments starting to discuss ending the right to bring your family under asylum claims.
To be clear, this is a self-defeating measure. If one member of your family succeeds in their claim, it is unlikely that any of you won't. This just clogs up the system

It's actually really pleasing to see all the innovations in AIO computer cooling coming out now that the oppressively broad patent for pump configuration has expired. Computex this year seems to be wall to wall with new AIO designs that previously would not have been feasible

Looking at the cash for communities proposal, it's generally positive stuff, but these things are all achieved more directly through community ownership. Better yet, it grants the local community the ability to decide what the money goes to.

To be absolutely clear, the PIP system is incredibly intrusive and abusive towards disabled people. I am unfortunately aware of far too many who have been driven to suicide from it.
Making it harder is murder, and even on a pragmatic level will not produce significant savings. It is just cruel

Scottish Labour has the unenviable problem of being the Scottish arm of an unpopular red-tory government. It's interesting to see how they deal with this, because if they don't differentiate themselves, they lose. Which says something considering the result of the general election.
