Just started Death of the Author (Nnedi Okorafor). I have no idea what it is about but I liked the cover so I decided to try. Funny that I’m reading this immediately after On Writing because it is about a writer. I can’t decide yet whether I like it or not but the style is smooth and simple.

Started On Writing (Stephen King). I don't recall when I first read it. I don't think I've read it in English tho. Anyhow, as expected, it's great. King is one of my all time favourite authors and A long walk is one of my all time favourite books. I like his style and how he captures youth.

Started Tuesdays with Morrie (Mitch Albom). My friend recommended it to me after seeing my post about Twice. The book starts well and I’m already intrigued. Now, I’m worried this is going to be sad.

Started The Artist's Way (Julia Cameron). Another one of those I wouldn’t have picked myself but so many friends recommended it to me over the years, and I trust my friends. I’m half in and if there are some cool quotes, I find it preaching too much. I dislike the style too.

Just watched Coyote VS ACME. What a formidable film. This is a masterpiece. It reminds me the best of Who Framed Roger Rabbit back then. This is what cinema is about: everything is fake, you know it’s fake, it is literally made to even look fake, and yet, it feels real. The emotions are real.

Started Atomic Habits (James Clear). This is one of those books so many people told me to read for so many years and I just never felt attracted to it. I usually don’t read any of those business or self improvement books. I find them boring, dubious, and unscientific at best, or completely bs.

I dislike that new look. It feels like an amateur doing a personal remake/demo on UE at home rather than a real Nintendo game. It doesn't have the typical charm of Zelda.

Things that drive me nuts about Japanese is the 促音 and the 長音符. I never remember where they appear so it takes me years to write a single word. Japanese doesn’t have enough vowels and consonants so it has so many quirks.

Started Les guerres de Lucas 2. It’s specifically interesting to me at this moment as I’m wondering how to make a proper sequel. And turning that into a franchise. I don’t know how much is true in this book, probably very romanised like many biopics of some sort, but it’s inspiring.

Started Les Guerres de Lucas (Laurent Hopman, Renaud Roche). So many people recommended this comic and now, I know why. It is a formidable story, with beautiful illustrations, well told. I like how it does such a great job at telling the story through Lucas’ lens. And it works well. Very engaging.

Just read and finished La Route (Manu Larcenet). I watched the movie back then. I’m pretty sure I’ve read the novel but I can’t remember clearly. The comic book is as sad as the other versions. Maybe even more. The illustrations are horrific, and they show the world from the kid’s perspective.

Started reading Twice (Mitch Albom). I instantly got hooked on the premise because it is literally one of those questions I’ve asked myself many times. If I could go back and redo, would I do it? And my answer, every time, has been no. Maybe because I’m too lazy to redo everything.

Just started Never Lie (Freida McFadden). I’m not so much into thriller but the pacing of this book is amazing. Short chapters, with new events in quick successions, it is written like a show in HBO. I like how the mystery is being developed. I’m intrigued. I’m engaged.

Just received my super station from @takiudon.bsky.social and I can’t wait to try it. But I’m already impressed by the packaging and the general build quality. The plastic feels premium. It feels much higher quality than the Analogue Pocket for instance. So excited about it.

Watched Normal. I’m tired of those new-gen action movies. They all go for that semi-comical and second-degree stance nowadays. There is zero gravitas anymore. All the drama seems forced and every situation is random. I don’t feel any tension and the combats feel generic. Sad because I like the main.

Watched The death of Robin Hood. A surprising movie. I really liked this alternative version of the tale. It’s pretty cool to imagine the folks hero as a bloody criminal. It kinda makes sense. Unsure about the redemption part but the execution is good and the movie was pleasant.

Watched Mortal Kombat 2. What a disaster. The movie is so bad. The acting is cringe. The story is inexistant. The combats are unintentionally comical. The dialogues are lame. There is nothing to be saved. Even Techno Syndrome sounded better in the original one. A complete waste of time.

Just watched It’s a wonderful life. I never heard of this movie until a new friend recommended it to me recently. I’m glad I watched it because I needed it. It is a beautiful tale that reminds me of back to the future. It is a tad naive, the pacing also dated, but it is truly wonderful.

Les touristes me rendent fou. Ils ne respectent rien ni personne. Ils se croient à Disney et pensent que nous sommes tous là pour les servir et que tout s’achète. J’étais tranquille, j’étais peinard, sur ma petite terrasse au café de la Paix.

Je viens juste d’apprendre que Rémi sans famille est non seulement d’une œuvre française, c’est aussi fait par Madhouse, et, le plus important, le truc se termine bien. Le dessin animé m’avait mais tellement traumatisé que je pleure rien que d’écouter le générique. Faut que je vois la fin du coup.

Stockholm is such a beautiful place during summertime. I adore the harsh sunlight steiking the painted walls and casting those shadows everywhere. The contrast is amazing. Looks like a mid century modern painting.

Started Network Effect (Martha Wells). I immediately liked the humour and I was intrigued by the character. But somehow, I can’t focus reading it, always having some thoughts distracting me so I have to go back check what happened because I didn’t pay any attention.

C’est quand même bien Paris l’été car il fait jour tellement longtemps. Par contre, j’ai rarement vu Paris avec autant de gazons jaunes. Je suis content d’avoir échappé au pic de chaleur mais j’observe clairement les traces encore.
