Vladimir Putin has been working tirelessly to subvert and weaken the United States. Donald Trump has made his task easier and more successful. This story should be better understood by Americans. @davidcorn.bsky.social's new book is essential to our efforts to expose the truth--and overcome it.
Today is pub day for my book, "HOW RUSSIA WON: Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and the Fight for America." Please watch this video and pass it on. It's time to reclaim the Trump-Russia narrative and recognize Putin is continuing his years-long war on America and Trump is complicit.

worth tying this into the political economy of the slave south as well. from roughly the 1820s onwards, slavery became enormously lucrative in ways that had never been seen before. slave traders became millionaires. large planters had tremendous purchasing power. just huge amounts of wealth.
Antebellum politics is fascinating, the South kept getting policy concessions and whipped themselves up into a paranoid rage anyway, essentially because they couldn't stand being culturally judged for having slaves

Blowing off children’s hospitals worried about Medicaid cuts… whining about how long cops’ funerals are… the WSJ confirms Fetterman is an objectively terrible person.

A recent survey found that 92% of U.S. adults have delayed or avoided medical care due to high costs.

Meanwhile, a new study from Yale estimates that Medicare for All would save over 114,000 lives and $1 trillion a year.

If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have universal healthcare.

This is whole story is horrifying, and as a journalist covering ICE flights, I was struck by this sentence: “We were shipped to Texas overnight from Los Angeles in horrible conditions that I won’t elaborate on in this letter.”
Today in @thenation.com: a harrowing piece written from inside the Dilley ICE detention center by Maryam Tahmasebi, a green card holder who's been locked up along with her husband and son for months despite none of them committing any crime. www.thenation.com/article/soci...
One Woman’s Message From the Hell of ICE Detention
My husband, son, and I have been locked up for months—despite being permanent residents with no criminal record. It is an unendurable, unending nightmare.

Three doctors who have served on state maternal mortality review committees told ProPublica that Ciji Graham’s death was preventable.

“There were so many points where they [doctors] could have intervened,” one expert said.

In a state that had legislated its commitment to life, Graham spent her final days struggling to find anyone to save hers.

We actually had the 16th highest mortality rate in the world and it largely resulted from the ignorant asshats who were *resisting* the common sense protection measures Fauci was promoting like masking and distancing.

What a colossal asshole.
RFK Jr: "Because of Dr Fauci's leadership and other reasons, we had the highest mortality rate from covid of any country in the world"

One former FDA official said if the agency lifted restrictions on peptides, “it would be a disruption of the societal pact we have had since 1962 that drugs will be studied to see if they work before they are marketed in the U.S.”

RFK Jr. May Reverse a Peptide Ban He Calls “Illegal.” Former FDA Officials Say He Mischaracterized Their Work.
The agency's 2023 decision to place 19 peptides on the “unsafe” list was supported by numerous documented safety concerns, former officials said. Even though demand for peptide therapies has exploded since then, there's been little new science.

How do you know if the fruits and vegetables you buy at the grocery store come from farms where workers were harmed?

Read this thread by our reporter @maxblau.bsky.social 🧵
I’ve reported at length about abuses of foreign farmworkers who come to the U.S. on H-2A visas: stolen wages, guns pointed in their faces. One woman I met was kidnapped, raped and nearly killed.

I wanted to know: How do I tell if the produce I buy is part of the problem? 👇

Judges are expected to write opinions not only for the sake of precedent, but b/c written opinions act as judicial guardrails. They help keep judges from making arbitrary or insufficiently considered opinions because they have to provide some coherent explanation for their conclusion.
Amy Coney Barrett just told Congress that it would be inappropriate to explain the reasoning behind the Court’s unreasoned shadow docket orders. As if unreasoned judicial orders are a thing. They are not. The reasoning is the whole point.

But Ted Cruz was born in Canada. He only got US citizenship by a birthright citizenship law because of his US mother.

They are both shameless hypocrites.
