I spent two years chasing clouds all over the Transverse Range, which is probably the least coherent-to-others project I'd ever done. Had a blast. Learned a ton. Will never be sorry

I attended a lecture on AI refusal in public libraries. Created and led by Hannah Cyrus who is excellent. Clear practical information, deeply informed by practice and research, for real humans. 10/10

Why "AI Research Tool" automatically turned on in JSTOR. Ew!

All respect to Ann, and the untold story of many G&T programs is how they approached “giftedness” as a disability. Counterintuitive, but the one good program I was in (moved a lot so could compare) saved lives.

Just a reminder that there is no good data to support these uses in K12, we are just testing it live all on kids who won’t ever be these ages again and can’t get them back if we fuck it up.
"AI can draft an essay for you, especially if you give it a high quality prompt."

Really? This is what MIT thinks high schoolers should learn?

MIT's "Day of AI" dayofai.org provides materials for K-12 teachers and claims to have reached over 5,000,000 students to date. 1/2

I am old enough to remember when politicians felt the need to hide behind euphemism and obfuscation. As frustrating as these obfuscations were I hope it is becoming clear to all that they were an advance, historically speaking

Most wholesome NYC Mayor "scandal" in known history
New: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and a group of his friends have been secretly using the NYPD Police Academy’s gymnasium in Queens to play pickup basketball — scrambling some operations at the facility.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Why the Future of the Amazon Could Depend on Brazil’s Election
Flávio Bolsonaro, the front runner in this month’s presidential runoff, is a strong advocate of environmental deregulation who has backed policies that scientists say could hurt the rainforest.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who spared a thought for my country today, who amplified information about the coup d’état attempt, and worried about Brazil’s democratic future—the world’s democratic future. We won! Women won! The Amazon won! Young people won! Democracy won! Hope won!

I'm saying
Brazil’s results tonight are a big endorsement for the idea that every country should have a second “are you you sure about that” election a couple weeks after the first one for the important stuff

None of us should forget this. Meta should be subjected to corporate death penalty and permanently broken up into small pieces.
I will not forget that Zuckerberg and Facebook shut down the accounts of the most popular presidential candidate in one of the largest democracies in the world, and he was elected anyway

There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere*

Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines

As a species we decided, “we will survive”

Let’s do that some more

Police officers in schools are not there to protect the students, teachers, or the school employees. They are there to begin putting children into the prison pipeline, so they become prison labor. That is it.
Come on, literally anyone who knows about police in schools could have told you this would happen
