Very cool people scoffing at all the Mackelmore stuff but I want to always hold space for the fact that music can change the world. Music and sport really did help bring down apartheid, and almost every generation last century had a movement for change that had a strong cultural element.

You know the tactic of pointing out to cis Dems that we as trans people already enjoyed the rights some Dems want to strip away from us is a powerful one given I've not seen any of them try to actually address that part.

She put some stuff on ebay to help raise funds, too.
I couldn't pass on this. Harvey's copy of Rolling Stone from June 1970, with coverage of the Kent State Massacre!

10 years ago, when cis people & orgs backed trans rights in response to the NC bathroom bill the result was the state reversing course & the governor losing his bid for reelection. We arrived at this moment because ostensible cis allies like this pusillanimously abandoned us after the 2020 election.
What *actually* happens if the Fever, Storm, W, PA or anyone else involved responds strongly? The organizers get what they want and peddle more "intolerant left" BS. Another week of on-court stories being overshadowed. Nobodys mind is changed. Materially, no trans person is better off.

Honestly trans rights is a number 1 issue for me because not only does it indicate you don’t give a shit about trans people, it demonstrates how important human rights are to you in general, how in thrall you are to right wing press, how much bullshit you’ll swallow, etc etc
