I guess this is just sort of the logical endpoint of this administration’s commitment to fulfilling their supporters’s desire to vicariously consume violence done to other people.

i must not produce takes. takes are the mind-killer. takes are the little death that produce total obliteration. i will face my takes. i will permit them to pass over me and through me without posting them to the timeline. where the takes have gone there will be nothing. only i will remain.

interesting that conservatives were militantly “we must reward hustle” when the target was affirmative action at elite universities and now, when faced with the success of south asians and other groups, it is “i think we are too meritocratic”
It's absolutely bonkers to me that this image led directly to this tweet.

They refuse to contemplate a future where they’re not the center of the world.

David Zaslav on leaving Warner Bros. after the formation of Skydance Corporation:

I understand that paywalls are annoying, but the grim reality for everything right now, is if you want something to exist, you have to put money towards it. Every creative person is having their life's work hoovered up by AI companies. Layoffs never end. Private equity keeps making things worse.

Reading the article, he doesn't just mean democracy is bad. He keeps saying, basically, that the rule of law should only be applied to commoners.
“Democracy has been hailed as, like, the holy grail for the last couple hundred years, but democracies are inefficient,” said the crypto billionaire. “If you get a benevolent dictator, it’s actually extremely efficient."

Hmm, where have I heard this before?

The malicious compliance game bc figuring out what courses start with 50% of these & go somewhere else.

The UT-Austin Core Curriculum Task Force is requiring that Gen Ed courses draw 50% of their readings from this list of 50.

Unfortunately, it seems to think that the “Great Questions of Human Life” can only be explored through the canon of Western civ (token exception: Confucius).
