Forgiving infrastructure design is essential, especially for people outside of cars. No one should be subject to the death penalty for falling off of their bike or tripping while walking. A proper buffer is a life insurance policy.

Walking around downtown Vancouver with an out-of-town urbanist friend, I can’t help pointing out the many high density streets with generous street trees creating “kissing canopies” above sidewalks, greening, cooling & cleaning the street. Even 5+ rows of trees on many streets.

Something I think people are missing after Wilson successfully banned junk fees.
1. This closes the loophole that allowed landlords to raise rents higher than permitted by state law via raising/adding fees instead of the base rent. (Sudden monthly $250 “valet” trash, anyone??)

Seattle light rail ridership has exploded since January! Overall, the region's transit ridership is ~back to pre-covid levels.

We need to regulate the height of vehicles in the country. This truck outside my building is massive. I’m 5’10” and the hood is at my neck! You could fit a school bus worth of children in his blind spots.

Staying current with US news is just exhausting. But then I keep thinking, well, the horrors persist but so do I.

Next month Sound Transit will begin simulated service across the bridge. During this phase they'll run trains as if in regular service to validate operations and systems.
