The Front-End Community is Still Alive and Beautiful
I thought about dropping an addendum into my last post to say just how overwhelmed I am, in the best possible way, by the way all of you in the front-end community have shown up to show support, both for me and for CSS-Tricks. I started to do that but then felt a new post...

I have a lot of feelings about the whole CSS-Tricks debacle. Here's me trying to be constructive about it. ericwbailey.website/published/cs...

I hadn't posted over on the second channel in a while now, but I felt that it was important to talk about what's going on with @digitalocean.com and @css-tricks.bsky.social as the site has now gone quiet for a second time.

For @motherjones.com, I looked into how Meta could be using disabled people to promote its Meta glasses to the masses. As one expert told me, “companies have used accessibility...as a Trojan horse for a tool that poses significant privacy and security threats.” www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
Is Meta using disabled people to promote its glasses?
AI glasses are a double-edged sword for disabled people, who face unique risks from surveillance.

Meta and X have been quietly downranking external links for ages, but we're now entering a new era of open hostility toward the open web.

It's a great time to build your own website, free from any billionaires demanding a tithe for things that have always been free.
Fucking hell. Facebook is now limiting the number of links that a page or professional profile can include in a post to TWO PER MONTH, unless you pay them $7.99 a month.

Fucking assholes.

The US Web Design System is load-bearing infrastructure for thousands of government websites. It makes it easy for small teams with no resources (i.e. most .gov teams) to make usable, accessible websites that work for everyone.

Today, it's as close as it's ever been to being replaced with AI slop.
