Also remember that the Tories and Reform are unwilling to fix any of the true problems in Britain today, so they have to survive on finding small grievances and amplifying them. Their entire message is that the country is in crisis, so if problems actually got fixed it would be a disaster for them.3

It’s a mark of the corruption of our whole way of thinking about the world that trying to meet a planetary emergency is routinely described as “ideological”, while continuing to accelerate it is presented as “pragmatic” and “economic”.

Now we need to see similar energy behind a commitment to get dirty money out of politics, clamp down on donations, greater transparency over lobbying, Lords reform and an end to the revolving door between politics and lobbying. Only then will we have a politics people can truly trust

So pleased to hear this confirmed in the PM’s speech. Big congrats to @makevotesmatter.bsky.social and all who’ve campaigned for it! At last we have a chance to restore trust in our politics with a system where “everyone’s views count and everyone’s vote matters” 👏👏👏

Reform is the richest party in Britain.

Its leaders are almost all millionaires.

It is funded almost exclusively by billionaires.

It has a supportive TV station and widespread media backing.

So naturally, this donation comes with the usual attack on "elites".

Perhaps all those who call for millions of deportations as if it were nothing should have a taste of their own medicine and experience the consequences of their actions and the conditions while being held as it clearly only affects them when they themselves experience it not when other people do.

It's a sad indictment that a team containing quite probably the greatest player football has ever seen has been overshadowed by dirty antics and incidents of racism that are depressingly far too common.

The World cup final was a truly disgusting display of football from Argentina, full of fouls and cheating, the scenes at the end when Paredes grabbed Gavi's throat was completely unacceptable and I am so glad that Spain and football won that.

This extreme weather of the past week isn't a one-off. It's part of a dangerous new norm.

The oil and gas companies fuelling the climate crisis - and driving up your energy bills - shouldn't be funding our politics.

I've tabled an Amendment to ban oil and gas donations to political parties.

This is a Refugee Tax.

It was originally proposed by the Tories, and the only reason asylum seekers could be claimed to 'owe' any money is because they are banned from working.

Another cruel Labour policy - that must be reversed on day one by Andy Burnham.
