Ranked requires a certain number of wins, and currently, you also can only play characters you have at least 15 wins on (you need at least 3 characters as well), ive not tried ranked yet but this is at least a pretty nice way to not have one-tricks in ranked!

Had the same problem but none of them worked for me, made a support ticket and they fixed it on their end
