The new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, has pledged to end rough sleeping.

With 4,793 people sleeping rough on a single night in autumn 2025–the highest figure on record–there's no time to lose. We welcome this commitment & will work with Government to help deliver the homes & support people need.

Ending rough sleeping should be perfectly achievable if Burnham has the will to achieve it.

Official figures suggest there are fewer than 5,000 people sleeping rough on a typical night across England.

A problem that one of the richest countries in the world really should be able to fix

Really pleased that #Burnham has made ending rough sleeping his first priority!

It's totally possible for a rich country in the 21st century to achieve this (others have done it already)

As Prime Minister, Andy Burnham intends to adopt a ‘national housing first philosophy’ on the premise ‘everything starts with a good home’.

fascinatingly* the French news is translating "Count Binface" as « le Compte Tête-de-Poubelle » rather than « Visage-de-Poubelle)

which is, in fairness, more accurate (his entire head is a bin, not just his face)

typical British media not asking the important underlying questions

I told MEPs that I worry the Commission's European Affordable Housing Plan, in partnership w European Investment Bank, may morph into another derisking vehicle for institutional landlords.

Today, USAID shuts down.

Experts say this could lead to 14 million deaths by 2030—including 4.5 million babies and children under 5.

Let’s not forget, Trump recently let a warehouse full of food aid rot rather than feed the hungry.

This isn’t America first. It’s America heartless.
