It's gotten so much easier to start learning so many more languages, you used to be limited to the 3-5 major languages that a local bookstore or educational institution had decided it was worth making available, and now you can just like, look things up in hundreds of them
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

100% to the second, 99.9999% to the first. If we find intelligent life, it won't be the life itself, it will be evidence and/or artifacts because however big you think space is, it's a million times bigger than that, and given our own speed run to destruction, intelligence doesn't last all that long

in fifth grade we had a class spelling bee where the class winners would go to the school spelling bee, and potentially beyond
my teacher intentionally gave me harder words than the rest of the class, so i didn't make it past the class contest

Alright, where are my gifted kids at? You were smart and you never had to study and then you went to college and suddenly had to learn a new skillset overnight, that everybody else had years to learn, or flame out spectacularly?

In my experience, talent is a *detriment* to learning.
I didn't have to practice early on so I *didn't know how*. I didn't start to learn how to practice until my 30s! (When much of my life was taken up with parenting, so I didn't have time!)

i held on til i was like 25 but i sure did flame out spectacularly
i spent the weekend crocheting small orbs while listening to other people solve puzzles and that was solid actually

I don't mind videos autoplaying on my timeline, as long as they do so silently. Video + sound is the *worst*.
