Alright everyone. Republicans are going to force a vote on their gender affirming care provision even though it violates Senate rules. They’ll need 60 votes to keep it in. Now is the time to make your voice heard and ask your Senators to stand on the side of health care freedom.
Transgender medicaid ban and definition of sex are back in the federal bill - Dems can raise a point of order and force a vote, and as long as we don't lose 7 dems on this, Dems can keep it out.

This means that Democrats will have to raise a point of order on this part of the bill. This would force a vote on the amendment that would require 60 votes. Republicans have 53 Senate seats, so it means they would need to pick off 7 Democrats for this.

so this is kind of a funny image, particularly given the picture they gave the guy. but it’s actually a great example of how democracy relies upon, is *supposed to have*, effective mediating institutions that make politics comprehensible to the median voter, and how they help people like this guy.

I did geniunely admire and respect Francis: not from that faith tradition myself so I’m sure plenty that I didn’t agree with him on, etc. But I do think he embodied the best aspects and highest aspirations of both Catholicism and Christianity.
