In this horizontal color photograph, a red-tailed hawk is seen from below soaring across the upper right half of the frame. Its right wing extends beyond the edge of the photograph, while a red-winged blackbird, wings tucked tightly against its body, dives aggressively toward the much larger raptor. The background is filled with a blanket of clouds as patches of blue sky begin to break through. I initially spotted another red-tailed hawk landing as quickly as it could in a small pine tree while red-winged blackbirds and common grackles relentlessly harassed it. Moments later, I noticed a second red-tailed hawk flying overhead as a red-winged blackbird launched a determined attack. I immediately shifted my attention and locked focus on the hawk in flight. It's remarkable to think that I've now witnessed red-winged blackbirds attacking red-tailed hawks five times, ospreys twice, great blue herons at least half a dozen times, and even a Canada goose. Despite their small size, red-winged blackbirds are fearless defenders of their nesting territories and will aggressively confront almost any perceived threat—including humans. I'm continually amazed by encounters like this. Most happen too quickly or too far away to photograph, but on this morning everything came together, allowing me to capture a few images of this extraordinary display of avian aggression and the unwavering determination of one of North America's boldest songbirds.

Trying to create during a heatwave #makeaterriblecomicday
A simple black and white comic. In the first panel, a woman with longish hair, some of which obscures one eye, is browsing her computer and saying "I nearly forgot! It's MAKE A TERRIBLE COMIC DAY!!! 24 June" (the event name and date is more prominent and in colour. In the second panel, she sits back, fingers on chin in a thoughtful pose. "I want to do more things like this! Now I just need an idea." The panel around her is distorted and wobbly, the top especially is dipping down into the body of the panel and distorting the text. In the third panel, the border of the panel is fully melting down. Some has fully melted into a large drop, hitting her head with a 'spltch' sound, about which she looks disgusted and surprised. The fourth panel is a small blob shape. The woman is now also drawn more wobbly, also melting, as is her text which reads 'Ah fuck...' The final panel is a puddle.

GenAI is a tech bubble of hype and absurdity. It runs on nothing but vibes and dollar signs in billionaire's eyes. But that's why we must resist it. We broke NFTs, we broke the Metaverse, we can break this nonsense too.
The reason RAM prices went up 4x is that a massive amount of not-yet-manufactured memory was bought with money that doesn't really exist to put into GPUs that haven't been made yet, to be installed in data centers that haven't been built, powered by infrastructure that may never exist, to satisfy demand that isn't actually there, in order to generate profits that are mathematically impossible.

(link to Thomas’ wikipedia article) I really just have to summarize Thomas's entire life: • He was in a committed relationship with a male swan named Henry for 18-24 years before a female swan named Henrietta showed up and mated with Henry. • Thomas was initially jealous of the pair and attacked them, breaking 2 of the 5 eggs Henrietta had laid. However, once the remaining eggs hatched, Thomas warmed up to them and helped raise them. • Henry couldn't fly because of an injured wing, so Thomas taught the cygnets how to fly. • When they needed to reduce the goose population in the pond where Thomas and the swans lived, they dyed Thomas's feathers red so he wouldn't be separated from Henry. • Henry, Henrietta, and Thomas remained in their happy throuple for years and raised 68 cygnets before Henry died in 2009. After Henry's death, Henrietta found another swan and flew away, leaving Thomas alone. •Thomas finally met and mated with a female goose in 2011 and had his own babies. However, another goose named George stole them and raised them himself. • As Thomas grew elderly and blind, he was relocated to a wildlife center where he raised orphaned cygnets. • His caretaker at the center described him as "pretty high maintenance." • Thomas died in 2018 at the age of around 40. He had a funeral that included a small coffin and a procession that was led by a bagpiper. He was buried under the stone where Henry was buried, the two finally reunited in death. • Before and after his death, Thomas has been celebrated as an icon of the LGBTQ+ community for obvious reasons.

took my macro lens out today to photograph some bugs. pretty successful, if I do say so myself
a mint moth (small tiny little moth with reddish-purple outer wings with a little orange spot, and brown underwings with a horizontal bar of orange) aptly posed on a mint leaf a black-and-white striped bee stepping from one flower to another, with her legs covered in pollen a green hairstreak butterfly on some purple flowers, with its little tongue poking out to sip some nectar. it’s got fancy white eyeliner and almost iridescent pale green wings a big chunky bumblebee inside a purple flower. it’s covered in pollen and the focus of the photo is on the veins in its wings
