In retrospect, Obsidian getting Pentiment out there into the world before Microsoft exploded really feels like they pulled off the weirdest heist in gaming history.
So the news was about as good it could be under the circumstances.
It was a kidney stone, and now it’s passed. Holy hell that was excruciatingly painful though.
Haven’t eaten in 24 hours so I’m hitting a bar now.

I think the drugs are finally working. Still don’t know what’s wrong but I’m getting a CT scan later.
The pain was so bad I felt like I wanted to die. This has definitely been the longest six hours of my life. Now I can breathe again.
Not looking forward to surgery, if it’s needed.

Today has.. not been pleasant so far. I might have appendicitis. Was sent to the ER from an urgent care facility. It’s so painful I can barely think.

The most disillusioning thing about grad school so far is that I'm a little shocked by the number of cynical time-punching opportunists who do the bare minimum they can get away with and care nothing for learning their craft..

It's a good day for a cup of tea. Two, even!
I'm finding I like tea more and more as I get older. Coffee can give me jitters and it has a tendency to make me feel restless even after the actual energizing effect is gone. Tea provides just the right amount, and lasts just the right amount of time.

A friend got me a copy of Dawnwalker for Fox Day and I can definitely see why people are obsessing over this game. I'm hooked.

Slight detour before I began reading about dark age Italy. Solid book, although I felt it was very scant on indigenous history, hardly even being a footnote after the 18th century. That's a problem.

There's many reasons the Roman Empire failed, but one of them seems to be that it never developed a stable monarchy. Contrast it to the Frankish monarchy, which basically had only 3 different dynasties in a 1400 year existence..

I don't disagree, but it feels like this statement is equally valid for pretty much everything on the internet today. It's inimical to community. Close, repeated interaction with the same people.. that's the prerequisite for forming friendships.

Hot take: The furry AD scene is a lot more boring now that's it's pretty much commercialized. I think it was spicier when people weren't just cycling content, but actively looking for friends, or show off their naughty side to some special individuals.
