I've wondered to myself how dumb a person has to be not ton understand this. But I'm not sure they're dumb. If they're white and speak English natively, they believe it simply won't happen to them--and 99% or more of them are almost certainly right.

I’ve thought Buttigieg was a POS from the moment I heard him say, “Medicare for all WHO WANT IT” like he was pulling a rabbit out of a hat. What he obviously meant was that he would use bureaucratic hurdles to limit who gets access to health care.

One of the more insidious phrasings I've seen with the Dems/trans rights discourse lately is the idea that trans people are being greedy and demanding a "maximalist" approach to trans rights.

The funnest thing about libertarian theory (which is a thing!) is trying to figure out how long ago "homesteading" law would have been applicable to the place where you live. In my fair city, the answer is roughly 13,000 years ago.

Hands has captured Biden so perfectly, I have no notes. Obama picked him not because he’s good on race, but because having the whitest cracker available would improve his chances of getting elected.
The problem was that Biden was the guy chosen as Obama's VP to make a Black president seem less scary. The 2020 election was a battle of two different flavours of racist grandpa, the one who can barely stop himself from shouting slurs and the one who tells fond stories of his segregationist friends.

Well gosh. This seemed to have pissed of an Irish fellow enough to block me. I can only guess what’s so upsetting about hearing that indigenous Irish were dark skinned and didn’t speak a Celtic language.
Also true. I went looking because the OP specifically said “white,” and in the case of the British occupation the colonized people were also white. So I went looking to see if that was always true, and nope; around 2000 BCE, they weren’t white and didn’t speak a Celtic language.
