Israel is trying to make life impossible even well beyond the parts of Syria they're actually occupying. They simply don't want any living Arabs near their borders at all and wonder why no one wants to be friends.

Apparently, Classical Arabic kūrah ('district, province') derives ultimately from Greek χώρᾱ. When did /kʰ/ > /x/ happen in Greek? If it entered Arabic via Aramaic then it doesn't necessarily prove Aramaic had borrowed it before that shift happened in Greek, no?
