As a retired teacher, I’m so happy to see people supporting teachers with their wishlists this summer. I was reminded again today, however, how utterly broken the system is in some places. Can you think of any other profession that requires you to provide your own copy paper?

Ever since the evangelical church decided that political power was more important than the gospel of Jesus, I have been spiritually homeless. I haven't attended church anywhere. Today, I will attend a Christmas Eve service at a local Episcopal church. I'm ready.

Here’s a different kind of prayer.
I am no expert on psychology or sociology, but I believe the pandemic broke America. Everything became a simple binary choice. Wear a mask or not. Open your church or stay closed. The vaccine is good or bad. Scientists are truthful or they are lying. Having a horrible leader just made it worse.
