yeah when viewed from eg. my normal UK IP they do, but refreshing the page from CA or US IPs shows only one name. what I mean is I don’t see a policy reason why they couldn’t at least show “Lake America (Lake Ontario)” in the US?

ah I see the problem: the Network Link Conditioner is, uh, 60% on?
Screenshot of the mac OS settings app on the Network Link Conditioner extension tab, showing a 40 mbps down, 33 mbps up WiFi profile (more than I measured, so that's not the problem) -- but most curiously the big "Off-On" slide button has a render bug where the slider appears to sit in the middle of its container, instead of all the way to the left as it should when off. Made even funnier by the fact that this is an Apple-provided extension, you'd think if anyone wouldn't struggle with using their UI components in a forward-compatible way, it'd be Apple. But alas, such is the joy of mac OS 26.2. While we're at it, the screnshot also shows the semi-translucent "Search" box overlaying the "Wallpaper" settings tab in a way that renders them both useless and unreadable. Beautiful stuff.
