But I would rather have the Dodgers win six World Series in a row than increase the stranglehold that investors and rich bozos have over this or anything else, relative to labor.

continue to think that planter’s support with the lib/left male pundit class was not *in spite of* his various transgressions, but because of them, a frankly pathetic attempt to reassert dem masculinity through a man whose violent career they believed represented working class authenticity
is it possible that platner’s appeal is driven in large part by his audience’s libidinal investment in seeing a cheeky (derogatory) boy get away with things

i will not forget the men who downplayed the earlier allegations of abuse against platner and said accepting them was just the price we had to pay to gain control of the senate. i hope they feel like fucking assholes.
Exclusive: Woman who dated Graham Platner says he sexually assaulted her
The Maine Democrat denied the allegations and said, “Any accusation of non-consensual behavior is categorically untrue.”

“A personal matter” fuck you Rob Manfred
Turns out the 9-9-9 challenge box the Giants and five other MLB teams are selling this season is a bit of a rip-off. I know, a ballpark concession item isn't worth the price. I'm as shocked as you all are. www.sfgate.com/giants/artic...
SF Giants' new 9-hot dog, 9-beer promo has a big flaw: only one beer
This wouldn't even last nine batters in the right hands.

Baseball is supposed to be fun. If you are not playing it in a manner that results in having fun, you just seem like a weirdo honestly. You just are out there with your little pants and your helmet and your comically large glove

You guys are laughing. Paul Skenes almost was in the Air Force, and you're laughing.

I don't know about you, but for ME?!?! I love to see guys hit a forever-memorable home run and then celebrate by looking like they are absolutely furious and annoyed that such a good thing just happened.

It fits into the one allowed emotion (anger) that we men are allowed to have.

We hear “stick to sports” too much, but let’s be clear here: Team USA itself refused to stick to sports, eschewing representation of so much great American culture for, uh, Da Troops and nothing else.

Last month the NYT said AOC "struggled" to give an answer on Taiwan and quoted her with "uhs" and "ums" to make her look stupid

Yesterday talking about Hormuz Trump claimed he's heard from "numerous countries" and said "uh" four times. The NYT deleted the "uhs" and paraphrased him to look smarter:

Every member of Team USA is free to quit their lucrative career playing sports and go join the military like Pat Tillman did. This is all just cosplaying eyewash.

It's a game. It's entertainment. It's supposed to be fun, not joyless, humorless war.
DeRosa: “You never want to get lost why you’re doing this. Whatever that “why” is. Paul Skenes said to me when he signed up for this, ‘I want to do this for every service man and woman who protects our freedom’…I just wanted to honor that.”
why did Team USA bring in Robert J O'Neill to talk to the team? manager Mark DeRosa said it was his idea.

I don’t mean “as a collection of super teams.” I mean with guttural joy and pride and pain exploding in vibrant colors with music and dancing and peacocking and everything old school sourpuss baseball tries to suffocate.
Baseball would be as popular as soccer is globally if it was always played LIKE THIS.

I've been thinking about the Rangers' decision to display One Riot, One Ranger, and what it says about who this team is for. So I wrote about that. It's a big ol' bummer.
