I love exploring the Irish coast. The weather at the Irish coast, wildlife, scenery, the food, and daily life.
I am a frustrated sailor currently between boats.
The chalk coastline on this part of the beach is very susceptible to erosion. This chalk is full of large pieces of flint and fossils. Caves and are numerous and arches show the power of the sea. Definitely leave when the tide turns.

The Bann River flows northwards from Lough Neagh to the North Atlantic coast of Ireland. See the green tinged water? It’s blue green algae. Lough Neagh is 20 miles away and is filled with it because of fertiliser run off from fields and raw sewage pumped directly into it.

Waves are getting bigger at #ballycastle. When the strong winds blow, the sea crashes, the air is the finest you’ll breathe. This is nature stretching. It hasn’t even begun to move. The power on display at this coast teaches a person their place in the natural order of things.

13th century Layd Church ruins at Cushendall. Once powerful men are buried here. Chieftains and soldiers. Forgotten by time. But if their ghosts are here, my word…..what a beautiful place to haunt.

Rathlin Island ferry ploughing its way from Ballycastle. It has a 6 mile journey to the island. Other craft ferry passengers too, but this is the only one in service for vehicle transport.
The ferry is basically a purpose built landing craft. Made in Arklow in 2017.

Two swans having a wee surf on the mouth of the Dall river at Cushendall on the north east coast of Ireland. This is where the river meets the North Channel / Irish sea. The Irish name for this place is Cois Abhann Dalla (foot of the Dalla).

The Arcadia building, Portrush. Built 1925 and saved from demolition in 2000. It functions today as it always did, as a cafe and a centre for community events.

This is Bonamargy Friary on the north coast of Ireland. It belonged to the Franciscan Order. It was established in 1500. It has been a ruin since 1770. Burials have continued into the modern age.
Local lore says it’s haunted by a nun.

Young gulls call for food. They are now the same size as the parent birds now, and very demanding.

Irish beaches after summer. Miles and miles of solitude.

People like this enrage me. Know alls who know nothing. A knobhead who has never been to sea, and who would indirectly cause drownings of fishing crews, yacht crews and beachgoers just to have his myth fetish of white supremacy fulfilled against desperate black people in the English channel.
The Bjg Time Chatlie account seeking to identify & incite vs RNLI staff as traitors was run by a recruitment consultant in Worcestershire who is a Restore donor & Cromwell Club member. He hss now deactivated the anon troll account after being publicly identifird

The beach at Ballycastle looking north towards Rathlin Island then over to the town of Ballycastle.
No dramas here. Just peace.
This was a beautiful morning.

Small medieval brick on Ballycastle beach. Lots of impurities in the clay.
Beaches were used as dump grounds in past centuries for demolition debris. Relics can still be found.

The beach at Whiterocks on the Irish north coast. Full of caves and arches cut into the chalk cliffs by the sea.

A fresh morning at the Irish coast.
The air here is pure, the water cold and all year round people will swim in the sea. #ballycastle #irish #coast #sea

A purposely enhanced sea cave and a ruined footbridge at Ballycastle beach. This area was heavily involved in the abstraction of sea salt in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
