From the information available, it seems this US-Denmark deal over Greenland changes almost nothing. US had bases there before; US continues to defendsl Greenland because it s in NATO.

Where are the GPUs? Undeployed, in warehouses because there's a cartel colluding to keep prices artificially high and keep the world dependent on inference capacity rented by about 6 companies.
NVIDIA has sold about $535bn of gpus and associated gear (mostly GPUs) in the data center segment since the beginning of fy2023 (February 2022). If Microsoft only has 2gw or so, I think it’s unlikely anyone else is even close. Where are the GPUs?

Get in, folks: a new Russian disinfo campaign is targeting the midterms, specifically Democrats, in what seems to be the first attempt by the Kremlin-backed op to meddle in this year’s U.S. elections. They're faking celebrity videos attacking Dems and are...very stupid.

saw some new (to me, at least) signage at site of former Confederate Memorial in Arlington

It omits references to the Memorial's "highly sanitized depictions of slavery" & its "nostalgic, mythologized vision of the Confederacy"

And it says the sculpture will return in 2027

Incredible. When E—n M—k & his crew obliterated USAID in a weekend, they deleted a vast trove of publicly-funded knowledge: the Development Experience Clearinghouse.

A Canadian high school student (!) happened to have downloaded the entire thing for a project. AidData has now posted it for all.
Before reimagining development data, remember what we’ve learned
Why we’re publishing a free, searchable, and ungated archive featuring a quarter-century of USAID evaluation reports.

Reports that Madison Square Garden temporarily shut off its facial recognition system for Swift’s wedding expose a glaring problem with how the elite wield and control mass surveillance.
