And what an effort by Antonia Niedermaier! Great to have a brilliant, young #2 rider on the team

KASIA!!! The rider that got me hooked on following the women's tour/races, and the reason why I have a Canyon//SRAM jersey. So, so happy for her!

Also, I did acquire the Canyon//SRAM jersey, because I'm a giant dork. Yes, it can be a real, usable cycling jersey. Yes, it's a men's cut. And yes, I probably should have sized up, but this actually does fit me. Maybe just a little extra motivation to drop a couple more pounds 😅

Also, big shout out to Rifftrax's Point Break live show and the FF7 Rebirth OST for helping to distract me throughout the near-2 hours of pain

And Vontoux has been conquered! Completely killed me today - just huge sections of 10+ gradients on the early portion of the climb just destroyed my legs. Very much a leisure ride to the top, but also very happy to have accomplished this one!

Col de la Couillole today. 11.2 miles, just shy of 4,000 feet of total climbing. The >15% sections sucked and killed my cadence, but I felt surprisingly "good" for this entire ride. I'm aiming for Vontoux in June, but today's ride confirmed for me that I'm ready for it!

Ok, this could have gone much worse. And there's still a few final touches (putting in the shelves on the one unit, putting in the additional clothes rod and shelf in the one corner). But very much an improvement over the old setup.

Good news! I have employed an expert to assist!

Did the Bealach na Ba climb today - less of a Vontoux prep, and more out of solidarity with La Vuelta Femenina climbing L'Angliru tomorrow. Climb profile is below, and that still doesn't show the 20%+ incline sections. Suffice to say, I'm still not a great mountain climber 😅

And adding today's next big climb - Col du Tourmalet. 10.7 miles, 3993 feet of climbing, 1:21:37 climb time. Big mountains and steep inclines are still not my forte, but happy to summit.

Here's my Alpe du Huez climb from last month. That's 7.7 miles, 3398 feet of climbing, 1:04:46 total time for the climb.

Also, a matching donation to PFLAG Floyd (inspired in part to the Floyd, VA shoutout on the @shutdownfullcast.bsky.social this week)

My second www.edsbscharitybowl.com donation this year, this one for those PTKU Sharks. (And a nod to @surber.bsky.social and GCKuss for the donation amount.)
