I have no doubt about the dysfunctional districts I truly don’t but most of the time they’re severely underfunded and the response from the state is to take them over and eliminate the libraries as they did in Houston as a recent example.
I mean, if you wanna be technical, I never said "my" district did away with all standards. I said the idea of doing that to achieve equity is misguided. I shouldn't have used the term "get rid of."
Still, some of us are parents in deeply dysfunctional districts and I don't think you can generalize.

IMHO the two ways that life in developed democracies has gotten worse is
1. People are spending less of their time on things they find meaningful due to compulsive Phone use
2. Housing costs too much in high opportunity areas
