*We* also don’t want to be talking about this! The default position should be “don’t make any new rules banning kids participating in sports, let them play”

Ugh

*Talarico* was the one who decided to engage with the issue.

“Talk about what the 99% cares about.” No shit, which is why it’d have been great for him to say ~“I refuse to entertain questions about trans athletes in youth sports, because I really want to focus on (e.g.,) economic policy.”

He’s gotta put in some extra naps to break it in properly.

That whole bowl was CA$15!

And the lovely thing is, a little bit of close listening and validation can do wonders for a person’s mental health, but too much can be disastrous.

The Seattle Vertices.

Logo is a graph arranged to resemble the space needle, but there’s other merch that uses the same graph in the shape of other city symbols. It’s probably isomorphic to one of our more nonsensical intersections.

Even if that didn’t include shipping, probably yes. I think most people buying indie board games understand and expect paying a little more for something that wasn’t printed at scale.

And it’s under _really_ active development. Every time I look at it again some part’s been substantially improved.

I hope to see you all next year!

• PAX West staff and enforcers for making the whole thing possible
• The other vendors! Events like this only work when there’s a supportive community behind them.

Big big thanks to:

@connor.alwaysawake.games and @tedmannschaller.bsky.social for organizing and running the market!
@nomadotto.bsky.social for setting up the group dinner for the vendors
@emilyhancock.bsky.social for designing the posters for the event

So what marketing we’re doing is working! I’m sure there’s room for improvement, but people are finding us.

I only have my perspective as a vendor, but the market felt well-run, so whatever minor catastrophes most certainly happened behind the scenes, the organizers shielded us well from them.

That said, some people definitely came to the market having read over the online catalog. I got a few people who said they’d read about DAGnabbit! and headed straight to my table to check it out, and I overheard some bits of conversations that suggested the same happened for other games.

For the market itself: I think it went great! We had a huge line out front at the start. I think this was helped by the fact that the market opened right as the main tabletop vendor hall closed, and they made some intercom announcements pointing folks our way.

The PNW Tabletop Game Market at PAX West last night was crazy! The line to get in was so long but it seemed to be moving quickly. Thank you to everyone who showed up and checked out the games!

This was also the first big outing for my new business cards, which have a tiny roll-and-write game on the back! Folks who picked up a card were generally delighted to see the game, and for a market in was nice to have a cool little freebie to hand out to everyone.
September 6, 2026 at 7:17 PM
As part of my demos, the market collectively played about 2.5 solo games. The two finished games ended with scores of 19 (nearly perfect!) and 17 (not bad!). The best possible score is 21.

Knowing that there is an audience for mathy games, maybe there will be more in the future! I’ve even got a hidden movement game on the back burner that’s actually about group theory… (the boards are all finite nonabelian groups!)
September 6, 2026 at 7:17 PM
But I didn’t want a theme; I wanted it to be unapologetically about math! The game evolved name-first, after all. If it weren’t for the silly math pun, it wouldn’t even exist.

So to see a double-digit number of strangers be delighted by the game is truly joyous and validating!

I was unsure what the reception would be. Part of the reason DAGnabbit! is an indie market game is I think any publisher who wanted the game would start with the question, “can we find a resonant theme to explain why we’re drawing these arrows?”
