Went to the local independent cinema last night to watch The Man Who Fell to Earth. It was great to see it on the big screen. Also, admission was free if you were a “member” who donates to keep the place afloat, with free popcorn and drinks. A free movie and a free beer? That’s a good night.

Had tickets to Lollapalooza ‘97 - the Metallica one - didn’t go b/c I didn’t know where the venue was, had no one to go with, 2 hours away, etc. The Cocteau Twins played, not sure how 19-year old Zircona would’ve responded to their music.
How about this? Best concerts that you ALMOST got to see but DIDN’T.
Include reasons if you like:

Rolling Stones (play rehearsal)

Johnny Cash (I dallied)

R.E.M. (play performance)

Nirvana (canceled, college declined to pay requested $500 appearance fee)

On the one hand, I have bought the Warner Bros. Kubrick box sets multiple times. I also already have Barry Lyndon on 4K. Otoh, he is my favorite filmmaker, 4k’s of everything, and Criterion always does quality work. Decisions…

The prechorus buildup, exploding with the “We are!…” chorus. Fucking love it.

I ran a marathon for the first time yesterday. This wasn’t a bucket list thing or a midlife crisis, I had done a few halves and the one I did last September got me thinking I could do a full one. Time: 4:44

I’m in Knoxville for the Big Ears Festival. Today’s agenda: a screening of The Last Critic, Deerhoof, YHWH Nailgun, and (if I can get in) Marc Ribot’s SHREK. The lotion and hand soap dispensers in my room are both mixed up

I had this on cassette when it first came out. Heard it today in the car, and I almost started crying. My Dad is still here and in good health, it’s just interesting how some songs hit you as you get older. Also, this one has no bridge.

This song was #3 on the charts 42 years ago this week. I heard it this weekend, and was reminded how they don’t play it enough. The song is 10/10. The video? Uh…
