I think the longtermist element is pretty important. It's the whole reason they're able to justify terrible things, because they put significant moral weight on imagined far flung futures with imagined infinitudes of people, with imagined probabilities of coming into existence

In a "collaboration" (which we left), someone used an LLM to make a "summary" on topics for the project (without our consent) in which published research ideas from @olivia.science & me understandably popped up, but were credited to men, while our names showed up nowhere in the "summary".

Yeah, I would say he's a leftist darling. I only hopped on Bsky today because people on twitter were joking about how Bskyers are somehow living in a weird pocket reality when it comes to Platner.

So when it's 2025 and everyone in the center-left is rallying around Gavin Newsom as this psychopathic tough guy who's gonna Mog the fuck outta Trump for us. The left-flank also wants our own Gavin!! But we got none. But then Platner appears.

Bernie was that guy for us, but he's too old now. You could argue Warren was on our side too, but she's aging out as well. AOC is the next big star of the far-left, but we still worry about her. We worry that she's still too young. That America isn't ready for a woman president.
