The last half of this quote wasn't circulating nearly as much yesterday, but it's actually the clincher. God bless this brilliant, gifted, absolutely deranged man.

Almost every hobby or passtime I've had my entire life - comic books, action figures, trading cards, personal computers, even *the movies* - has been consumed by a bunch of gambling addicts desperate for some new speculative market and we should make gambling illegal because it's their fucking turn

Hey Platforms: Your Violent Content Policies Are About To Meet The Pentagon’s Firing Squad

There is plenty of debate about the moral atrocity that is a firing...

Art and stories are not meant to spit out a dream made for us by someone else - and certainly not by a godforsaken machine fuelled by pollution, plagiarism and laziness.
Storytelling is meant to show us someone else's dream and grant us the joy of access.
tl;dr people are fucking weird these days

A writer's stories do not exist to be turned to our whims. They exist to show us possibilities not our own. Use the longing you feel for a different ending, different character, different plot AND WRITE YOUR OWN. But expecting to be catered to as if that's somehow satisfying is antithetical to art.

Something that I've noticed across all mediums in recent years is that everyone wants everything catered TO them, rather than broadening their minds to other directions or possibilities in fiction. From plot to characters to ships. I see people one-star books because it's ~not what they would do~ 🧵⬇️
maybe i'm old fashion but the coolest thing about video games is being taken to new worlds that i hadn't thought up and experiencing something exciting that the artists behind the game want to show me
