I'm pretty sure #AlphabetChallenge is for photography. Yet here I am sharing a comic I made for an exercise to sketch panels and randomly caption them with a song lyric.

Kind of a dumb one, but my daughters & I enjoy The Big Year and would love to see it with a female cast. So, topically, I'll pick the cast of 9 to 5, with Jane Fonda playing Steve Martin's role, Dolly Parton playing Jack Black's role, and Lily Tomlin playing Owen Wilson's role.

Also a single mom, I had a one year old and a home daycare. It wasn't until the first mom came to pick up her baby that afternoon and said, "You don't know what's happened, do you?" that I heard about it. I waited until after I put my baby to bed that night before I turned on the news.

I plopped my one- and three-year old in front of the teletubbies so i could take ten minutes to get ready for work. (Single mom problems!) Instead it was the twin towers and Peter Mansbridge trying to find words.

It was the first I'd heard of polar vortex.

She has dementia now, otherwise I would ask her what the hell is in that bag & did she really drag it all over New York?!

This reminds me of going to PS1 Museum in the previous century, before their renovations & merger, when you'd walk down the hall, see an abandoned piece of rusty equipment and a shredded extension cord and wonder if it was part of the art installation. Ah, the good old days.

It's a lovely rainy morning in southern California. Here's a comic I made when I first moved back here. Now that I've been back for several years, the thrill of a rainy day has returned. ☔

Heh. I was voted "Best Personality" and "Friendliest" in my 8th grade class at a K-8 school. When the teacher told me, she said I had to pick one...

Before I read the text of this Mike Luckovich comic, I noticed the similarity of its composition with a panel from a four-panel comic of mine that I made in a Friday Night Comics workshop a few years ago, illustrating some song lyrics we chose.
Of course I chose Townes Van Zandt.

A favorite bit of hers, that I've been unable to find on youtube, is from the Carson show, when she spoke of getting fan letters, even nasty ones, and one said, "You dress like a slut. You wear too much makeup, etc." Dolly added, "That's the last time I heard from mama."

I had a college internship w/ Joan at the end of the last century. Working with her on her PS1 installation (and photographing it for her), hanging out in her Soho loft, meeting cool people (including flirting with Willem Dafoe), was an experience of a lifetime. I'm happy she's still telling tales!

Today's my daughter's birthday. Thursday is the day we get in the food pantry line at 6:30. They open at 8. They put a box in your car & there's a shelf of oddities from which to choose one thing. Today there was a cake.

I'm grateful for generous friends and for this sweet gift from the universe.
A beautiful white-frosted cake with assorted berries on top. My daughter has placed six candles on the cake, and I lit them, ready to sing.

As a kid, I used to sing this, complete with the Ruby Keeler "yoo-hoo-hoo-hoo"s. My daughter inherited all my dad's old songbooks, and she's been playing it on the trumpet. 💗🎺🎶

Mekka is right of course. The woman in this old comic of mine from when covid vaccines were being rolled out is not technically my relative, but she is a racist ivermectin sipper.

Even last year when my stepdad was hospitalized w/ covid & was very sick for months, she denied it was real.
