Members of Congress sincerely appreciate their role in maintaining "Checks and Balances:" as the lobbyists' checks come in and their insider trading earnings checks clear, their net worth balances increase. That's just math.
“Checks and balances” mean nothing if party loyalty means more to you than the Constitution, or whether you belong to the Senate, Supreme Court or House of Representatives. And if parties choose, or are simply to weak to constrain dangerous leaders, your democracy is in grave danger.
