Even after a decade of listening to his award-winning™ podcast, I still was not prepared for how much of a force of nature @jimmypardo.com is on stage doing stand up. An absolute joy. Don't miss him if you ever get the chance! (Unless your taste in Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals is lacking.)

Oh dammit, I log into this account to scroll for the first time in months and a major sports thing is happening. This is not the annoying content I came here to experience.

a thing that doesn't really get enough discussion about platner is that, even if you assume the latter here is true (and i do), it's going to make him strongly susceptible to malign influences if he gets elected to the senate; the framework to think about him isn't fetterman, it's gabbard
The two options at this point are (1) that Platner is a straight up Nazi, (2) he is the dumbest motherfucker in the state of Maine, the second is arguably better in some abstract sense but both are disqualifying
This is a joke at this point right?

So much of the best sci-fi comes from deep thinkers going "Wouldn't it be great if... Oh. Oh wait. No it very much wouldn't be." Thinking things out to very possible logical ends is the beating heart of lasting speculative fiction.

they said it couldn't be done, folks, big strong men with tears in their eyes, they came up to me and said "no president could completely wreck an entire united states economy twice", they said "no one's ever put more people out of work than you"
