This feels like the medieval version of show thoughts. I love the playfulness in writing a poem complaining about how the sun darkens skin but doesn't darken beards and how you should be able to sue for that

I'm watching a "behind the scenes" thing about Jabba, and before they dubbed his voice over in Huttese, they had him speaking in English. He has a pretty cool voice and one thing he says to Luke is "I was killing your kind back when it meant something to be a Jedi."

That's a pretty cold line.

This is the single biggest physics discovery of my entire lifetime. Or something's wrong with one of the cables. One of the two
BREAKING: The world's most sensitive dark matter detector has announced it has spotted something it can't easily explain: a single event that's tantalizingly consistent with a type of theorized dark matter particle. Very early days yet, but pretty wild. 🧪 www.science.org/content/arti...

It’s far too early to declare a discovery, physicists with the LZ detector say

Every bulletproof solution for these guys is "There is a law that says you can do big things if there's an emergency, so we have a plan: make up an emergency."

Roger Stone has endorsed the Trump national security emergency proposal for elections, telling Wayne Allyn Root — who pushed it to Trump during an interview this month — that it was, "brilliant," & a "revolutionary idea," & seems "legally unstoppable." www.mediamatters.org/election-den...

I'll admit to not being an entirely neutral observer here, but it doesn't help AI's case if its defenders are lobbing spurious accusations at a guy who is very careful at laying out his case for every accusation he makes. You may not like that he says AI is magic beans, but he's made his case for it

Some of your native seeds would benefit from Summer sowing!
There are quite a few species that require a warm moist stratification period before the typical cold moist stratification!
Here are a few examples.

Nothing makes more cynical about bluesky than looking up this guy to see what people are saying, only to have the first english post I see be something saying the sanctions he's under aren't harsh enough.

Some people might not be aware, but it is entirely possible that without Dolly Parton we wouldn’t have had a COVID vaccine. She partly funded Moderna’s research and gave the largest individual contribution to make it all happen.

Just gives you an idea of the kind of person she was.

Reading further and have gotten to the declaration of war on Austria. Amazing how insane the war's supporters sounded. They were convinced that people would welcome them as liberators and that the lack of qualified officers could be overcome with revolutionary fervor

Reading A New World Begins, a history of the French revolution by Jeremy Popkins, and something that strikes me as I'm reading through the build up is how much radicalization happened due to a complete surfeit of trust in the system as a whole.

I mean that fundamentally isn't true the promise isn't tax revenue, most of these things are demanding 0% tax for like two decades, what they are promising is jobs, a promise that every industry demanding a tax break makes and that rarely pans out according to promises made
data center developers fucked up by trying to tell Americans that data centers generate tax revenue for local governments instead of telling them that the subsonic noise pollution from data centers creates a shield that blocks chemtrails

The media worship of the wealthy gets really unseemly at points
Scam economy. The sort of nonsense that should result in a competency hearing, reported on as if it were a credible claim.
Actual CEO of a space company people actually invest in says "by the early 2030s" -- just 5 to 7 years from now -- there will be mines and factories and large human workforce on the Moon, such that we'll be able to see lights of the lunar city from our front porches
