Hello I am the mayor of LA and I hate entertainment workers, taco vendors, and people who can’t afford our bonkers housing market. Was that good? Did I Mamdani it??

Love how all the headlines and cable pundits are, “Well, Angie Nixon addressed and promised action on the issues the majority of people have been OPENLY AND CLEARLY SCREAMING ABOUT FOR THE LAST DECADE and somehow she pulled off a ‘surprise’ victory! Politics sure is crazy, huh?”

want to be clear there are absolutely big differences b/t Dems & GOP, don’t ascribe to all-the-same, and that said, it’s awfully telling how many high profile Dems now profess to prefer a Republican in office than a progressive and how that appears to be driven by who is closer to their values

Every 6 months or so since Arclight shut down, a story like this seems to emerge out of nowhere.

Will it be real this time? Probably not. Will I get my hopes up anyway? Absolutely.

The Republican Party is not our enemy because we intend to kill them, but because they intend to kill us--and already have killed a great many of us. Your friendship ought not to have survived that; it is to your great discredit that it did. Our anger, born of discouragement, is real and abiding.

All of these cases are basically litmus tests for any Dem nominee. Are immigrants Americans? Do trans Americans deserve human rights? Are corporations superhumans who get to spend endlessly on elections to put whoever they want into power? These are simple questions with simple answers.

Plaid shirt, mesh trucker cap, suspenders. He went up to the display and just stood there for a long moment. Then he came up to the desk. 🧵 1/
