Graphic Designer and Painter. My art is like that one episode of The Simpsons with the chili.

pettiest thing I’m mad about w corporations embracing genAI is that they’ve historically always been obsessively controlling over ensuring brand guidelines are followed, but now as soon as they don’t need to pay an invoice to a human, its fine when their mascot has 3 arms

My phone: You have one missed call.

Me: Oh, did you have plans to ring? Bring my attention to it? Vibrate a little? Or were you just going to let me watch you leave a note on my door saying "Sorry we couldn't deliver your package?"

This painting was originally finished in 2021, the only one I managed to create that year. I tried to use the same sort of blocky shading @theobanoth.bsky.social is known for, but it just turned into a visual mess. Four years later, I put the canvas back on the easel. #painting (1/2)

The sketchbook page in question. The original idea was basically: "What if Vaporwave, but in the desert?" Removing the words changed the composition more than I thought it would, and it took a few tries on the canvas to get it right.

It's funny, after my last piece "Nightdrive", I had fully intended to make more art centered around my houseplants, in a similar style. Instead I started going through my sketchbooks for ideas I never fleshed out. #acrylicpainting

Only about a week and a half between this one and the last one. This one pokes at feeling stuck in the suburbs while you know somewhere out there, exciting things are happening. #art

I've been painting a ton this month. It started when I decided to not worry about concept too much and just paint some of my plants in wild colors. I had so much fun doing it, it was kind of like dredging out the creativity stream. All I want to do is keep going.

I don't have the extra absurdity of being in Japan, but I did see Lowes had one little display out on July 30th

And by little, I mean three 12-foot grim reapers.
It’s the 5th of August.
I live in Japan.

Just, stop. Please.

I notice there was no stipulation about animated series. Snappy dialogue, deep character arcs, plays endlessly with tropes; Venture Bros is a masterpiece

I've been drawing for myself lately. It helps I don't have to throw all my creative energy into a job. Here's a quick sketch of Austin Public Library Central

Trying to get the grill started in the rain on the 4th of July is a pretty fitting analogy for trying to be a normal-ass American under the Trump regime.

I've just been invited to apply for a remote Print Production Specialist position ...which in my experience is a job that requires one to physically stand in front of the printer and push the buttons. Does this mean I would get a robot?

If your job posting says you want me to use "AI solutions to streamline the graphic design process" or similar, you're getting an AI written cover letter. It's only fair.

Nothing has radicalized me more against capitalism than getting laid off. Despite following the rules of the system, here I sit with no income, no health insurance, and no guarantee of new employment, by no fault of my own.

If that doesn't make you want to burn it all down, idk what would.

My coworkers and I were trying to come up with a name for the company blog. The two of them were asking ChatGPT for suggestions whereas I was working off the dome. The answers they liked were ones I had written on the board about 5 minutes prior.

Not to be old man yelling at cloud, but I walked past a child on an iPad and they were watching a video of someone coloring.

Like... girl, you could just color. You could demand that of your parents even. It is within their power to get you a coloring book.
