Here is the full ruling against Sim.

If one were to summarize the ruling, it would be “The code of conduct says you have to treat all councillors collegially, and a Mayor holding a press conference immediately after someone is elected to say how much he sucks is not collegial”

Listen: the start
of the pandemic’s
seventh year
is the perfect time
to get back to
the pandemic hobbies
you abandoned:
get back to baking
and calling friends,
get back to journaling
and doing puzzles;
you can even get back
to doing what you can
to help other people.

I feel seen. Graduate degree in physics. Happily working as Secretary-Treasurer of my teaching union. Draft budget finished as the end of financial year approaches.
When I tell people to not be afraid of maths I secretly picture this meme and go back to work on my Excel files…

@jmcelroy.bsky.social sums it up well. Rustad has resigned. Morning of December 4 2025
Here’s my story on John Rustad’s very bad day, why his failures appear to be rooted politics rather than ideology, and what questions the party will have to quickly answer the moment they stop having two leaders
ANALYSIS | Actual leader of the B.C. Conservatives up in the air — and so are their next moves | CBC News
Wednesday was the final day the B.C. legislature was in session for 2025 — and it sure delivered a season finale.

Irresponsible on the DM's part, but tracks.

As for the “watchers,” some enthusiasts have critical-thinking skills. Others don’t, and shoddy SciComms needs sources/useful idiots.

Don't be a "shoot first, ask questions later" poster. Leave analysis to experts like @geophysichick.bsky.social, please.
Did the Daily Mail ask a single seismologist about these data? Did they interview a volcanologist? Did they talk with anyone who studies this volcano for a living?

No. Here's their data source: "volcano watchers on social media". 15/n

Anyway, here's our good friend Mount St. Helens on Nov. 12, 1980.

I’m gonna come out and say it: Vancouver is having a spectacular fall.

- Minimal rain
- But also nice CRISP temperatures, puts us in the season
- Summer not too hot, so trees kept their leaves, creating full cover for nice colours
- No elections or giant weather events to distract from joy

Masterful.
pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Wilhelm Röntgen discovered X-rays #OTD in 1895 when he noticed that emanations from a Crookes tube caused a platino-barium screen to fluoresce. The rays exposed photographic plates but were blocked by bone and metal.

Happy Women in Physics Day to all of the amazing women and gender minorities in physics!! We are still greatly under-represented at all levels, so we need to continue encouraging girls and young women to consider studying physics and make systemic changes to the climate in the field. ⚛️ 🎢 👩‍🔬 🧪

Dear Physicists and Physics fans,

I would like to encourage you to celebrate #WomenInPhysics Day this Friday, November 7th.

Why November 7th? Because it is the birthday of two of the most impactful women physicists of the 1900's: Marie Curie and Lise Meitner. 🎢 ⚛️ 🧪 👩‍🔬
