"Keep Honking, I'm Reading 'Got fun nekome' by Sholem Asch!"
Ah yes, this should totally fix the problem of relying completely on a single major donor.

There’s also a third category, which is “things that are actually important for you to do yourself but somehow you can’t be bothered.”

(This is another post about my congressman using AI to generate bedtime stories for his kids.)
every time i get suckered in by a "but what about all the useful stuff AI does in my life??" argument the useful stuff is either "something you could google in two seconds" or "highly-skilled labor you don't have and therefore can't fact check"

Hat tip to whichever @onthemedia.bsky.social producer who picked Frank Zappa's "I'm the Slime" for this week's episode. (I think I also heard Michael Andrews' score to Donnie Darko make an appearance again last week.)

I don’t even know what to say anymore. The only thing Covid conscious people are trying to do, truly, is not get sick. That we’ve become the country’s newest freak show is predictable given the pandemic, but truly despicable on a base human level.

Didn't we *just* do this? Wasn't the whole point of the last week+ long shutdown to fix a bunch of stuff at once so they wouldn't have to keep shutting things down all the time?

I’m always conflicted about these sorts of projects. One the one hand, holy shit, new Morphine album! On the other, maybe there was a reason Mark didn’t feel like these songs were quite ready.
(See also: Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk)
Was so happy the Morphine team brought me in to help prep the news about this incredible project. The songs Mark Sandman put aside on the path to The Night, finished by Colley/Kolderie in 2025. It's 🔥

"Cocoon" by Morphine. Out 12/4/26 on Partisan Records. Pre-order now morphine.lnk.to/Cocoon

This lie got repeated by all the worst people on social media and it was immediately obvious there was more to the story. Very glad WBUR looked into it
A couple went on a Fox News podcast and claimed the state of #Massachusetts took away their teen because they won't help the teen transition. But it's actually because the father was charged with beating and threatening to kill the teen and the mother was charged with witness intimidation.
Mass. parents' story about child's gender transition complicated by court records
Joseph Kutzko was charged with assaulting the child in January 2025, not long before the child was removed from the family’s home. Mother Arlene Kutzko was charged with witness intimidation in connect...

Live your life in such a way that Ayanna Pressley never has to say "you're on thin ice with me." You'd have no choice but to walk into the sea.
More people are out of work now than they were before Trump took office in 2025.

And families are being crushed by rising costs due to Trump's reckless tariffs, illegal Iran war, and irresponsible fiscal policies.

Secretary Scott Bessent has no one to blame but himself & Donald Trump.

I will spend the rest of my life being mad at Joe Biden for this. He could have led a sustained, serious public health response and saved lives, but instead he decided it was more important to have full restaurants and airplanes.
I'm old enough to remember back between waves 5 and 6 -- September 2022 -- when President Joe Biden said: "The pandemic is over... If you notice, no one's wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape." www.npr.org/2022/09/19/1...

My utterly useless congressman just won his primary thanks to an enormous amount of money from a crypto PAC, so unfortunately I don’t think this will be a high priority for him.
Democrats should be targeting crypto, as a Republican constituency, with the same zeal that Republicans targeted universities for being liberal-coded.

But they won’t, because it might jeopardize the crumbs that industry throws their way.
