Sharing this again because it’s so totally spot-on. “Warrior,” as I’ve written about before, is a term utterly unfit for a citizen-soldier professional military. I want to buy @briankerg.bsky.social a beer or two for this.

Where Exactly Has the Warrior Ethos Gotten Us?
The Marine Corps should revive its traditional ethos, emphasizing professional competence, readiness, honor, courage, and commitment for the demands of modern warfare.

I did a somewhat deep dive into the recent OpenAI and Anthropic "hacks" for an upcoming interview.

IMO, the AI companies are better off running with the "rogue AI" story because the real story is actually pretty embarrassing.

Like making your Wi-Fi password "wifi" embarrassing. 🧵

The fact we have an executive class that doesn't know what to do with the Looney Tunes or The Muppets really sums up what a joyless, barren world they inhabit.
There are currently no active conversations for a full ‘MUPPET SHOW’ series revival.

Disney, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures have had difficulties with deciding on a premise for the series that they can all agree on.

I'm really curious how "One Evening" by Feist ended up on the M&S muzak playlist. It never charted in the UK, so how on earth did it end up in rotation?

I'm not complaining, it's just weird to hear it in the wild.

I followed the law, paid the migrant tax (that kept doubling every time I renewed my visa), and am still in the red. Everything I and my husband ever saved was repeatedly wiped out every two and a half years. These fees put every migrant worker that follows the law in precarity, likely in perpetuity
Exactly! And in that time your employer, to whom you are tied for the entire time, feels the same way (hard to invest in training you etc) and you have to pay huge Home Office fees every 2.5 years, meaning your family is very materially worse off than your co-workers and peers.
“The idea that you could be here for the next 10, 15 years and you’d still have no legal right to remain in the country … how the hell do you plan?..It cuts across any effort to integrate at all.”

Oddly specific problem, but has anyone else had issues with getting carrots to soften in the frying pan lately?

I can't remember ever spending so long trying to get the damn things soft enough for a spag bol or casserole.

Usually it feels like you're fighting to keep their shape.

Women buried with swords actually used them (how shocking! But also—seriously cool analysis). “These princesses were active practitioners of hunting or athletic skills rather than merely symbolic owners of the weapons found in their tombs,” says Zeinab Hashesh” ⚔️ www.snexplores.org/article/egyp...
Ancient Egyptian princesses may have been skilled warriors
A study of six mummies from ancient Egypt challenges the idea that the weapons buried with some royal women were merely ceremonial.
