Here’s something: if blue whales emitted their song out of the water, the effect would be so loud, it would cause immediate hearing loss in humans. Alexis Pauline Gumbs, for Orion’s issue THE DEEP DIVE, writes on voices (both human and whale), listening, and frequency.

I retweeted this yesterday without comment so I feel like today I can add that Kelsey Pfendler's arms & shoulders (like her determination, because that solo row is terrifying) are formidable.
It has been criminally underreported but Kelsey Pfendler has just rowed solo across the Pacific Ocean from the US coast to Hawaii in record time. A 2,400-mile unsupported journey in 43 days, 17 hours, and 55 minutes. Notably beating the Men’s record by 9 whole days.

Looking forward to this!
My book cover for my Fall release is done! And it has all the colourful energetic quirkiness of its subject matter ;) Wolsak & Wynn has been my longest term publisher and they never disappoint in the collaborative nature of their process.

...and as for prize culture, what I would TRULY love to see is more funding and attention for reading series, small presses, independent bookstores, and individuals who have dedicated their lives to creating literary community. you know, the oh so essential infrastructure of it all.

Yes, should be noted that when Vance joins Kushner and Witkoff he is not joining a team of negotiators but a pair of war profiteers.
One of the most brazenly corrupt events in history will take place tomorrow when Jared Kushner represents the U.S. in critical negotiations with Iran to end the war while he accepts millions in fees (and billions in investments) from the Saudi gov’t which has been lobbying Trump to continue the war
