Slander is spoken; libel is written.

But this isn't either of those. It's detailed reporting from a respected outlet with damning evidence.

And "most consequential Commerce Secretary in modern history" is as impressive as "shortest NBA player from Luxembourg"

aspirin poisoning could explain a lot
Trump: "I take an aspirin a day. I don't know if it works but psychologically I need it. It thins the hell out of your blood I guess ... They want me to go down to the 80. I take the 386. I don't know what the hell it is. It's a monster. They said, 'Sir, you don't need that!'"

Even after all these years, the Republican party usually abides by the Hastert Rule - that a bill is only brought to the floor if it has the support of the majority of the majority - and pretty much no one in DC thinks it strange to regularly refer to the work of a pedophile.

"Jailed for violating banking laws", much like Hitler met his end after losing a battle with suicidal ideation.
The Bari Weiss-ification of CBS News continues. Dennis Hastert was convicted of the sexual abuse of high school students under his supervision as a high school wrestling coach. Banking rules violations were his transfers of hush money payments which he misdescribed and which allowed

what an asshole
Samuel Alito: We won't overturn Obergefell because it's engendered reliance interests.

Jan Crawford: Well, many people had organized their lives around Roe v. Wade.

Alito: No, they didn't. Women merely had an "abstract" interest in "ideas about the kind of society that they were going to live in."
The Alito Court: A rare interview with the influential Supreme Court justice
Justice Samuel Alito discussed his opinion in the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the leaked draft and its aftermath, same-sex marriage rights and why he's not retiring yet.

If you've ever had the thought "landlords are people too" I cannot recommend more highly to get into a landlord-only Facebook group or subreddit and see how they talk about the people who provide the entirety of their income.

Team Silent was pretty open about how the game is about how society views teenage girls.

(Remember, this game came out when dudes were having “countdown parties“ for when Britney Spears turned 18)
Never played Silent Hill 3 award.
Got opinion from a /v/ screenshot award.

So, been catching up on Alan Wake and Control because of Control Resonant's release, and the more I think about the characters, like Tim Breaker and Jesse Faden and then all the legally distinct characters they resemble and how Sam Lake describes the multiverse in the Night Springs DLC, I'm like...

Have you noticed, lately, or noticed people around you commenting, that there just seems to be no money anymore. There's no money for companies to make the tv shows you like, the video games you like, the local diner you like shut down, no one you know can find a job.

Think about that in context of
AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP.

Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down.

"AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago.

We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.
Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

This isn't actually using GenAI at all, I'm assuming Capcom worded it this way to appease shareholders who aren't happy that they're not embracing AI, but the side effect is that now everyone who only read this headline and not the article thinks the next Resident Evil is being written by ChatGPT

Just a reminder for anyone that cares, Argonaut keeps partnering with ModRetro, run by war profiteer and general creep Palmer Luckey

Thread about why they suck below

The chintzy-looking M64 clone console of the N64 by a company named ModRetro has been released, I think, I don't pay attention that closely to shit.

But as the great @frankcifaldi.bsky.social posted before, it is our civic duty to push back against this company and shun ANYONE who doesn't.

His vocabulary is so limited it’s like reading a transcript of Koko, the gorilla who knew sign language, if Koko were a white nationalist
I recommend people read this to get a sense of the president's grave cognitive impairment. Trump is either unwilling or unable (or maybe both) to answer the questions he's actually asked, so he just rants and raves while the interviewers do their best to provide structure to his random brain firings

Pete is lost in terms of modern war. I use the example of this outgunned Ukrainian army officer who successfully terrorized a Russian unit for weeks because she "did the math."

At the time, someone commented, "yeah, in combat, 'I did the math' beats 'I can do 100 pushups' every time."
